The show runs Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Struthers Library Theatre.
“Every piece of this production is really a showcase of the ingenuity and creativity of everyone involved in Warren Players,” said JanaBeth Dinga, the show’s director. “Every name on that program has contributed something to this show that has made it the monument that it is. All I did was put those glorious pieces together.”
Set in Edwardian England, the story follows Monty Navarro, a penniless yet determined young man who discovers he’s eighth in line to inherit the earldom of the wealthy D’Ysquith family. With only eight relatives standing in his way, Monty hatches a plan to eliminate the competition – and climb the social ladder in the process. Meanwhile, he juggles a complicated love triangle between the alluring Sibella and the earnest Phoebe.
“Every show has its musical challenges, but the ranges and rapid fire lyrics of many of the songs in this show have made all of us stretch our musical muscles,” said Rob Pearce, the production’s vocal director. “With such a small cast, much is expected of every single person on stage, and I have been impressed with the talent and hard work everyone has brought to the task of mastering such a difficult score.”

The show is rated PG-13 for mature themes, dark humor, staged violence, and suggestive content, and may not be suitable for all audiences.
“As always, costuming is always a fun mix with anxiety,” said Dixie Brumagin, lead costume designer. “Will the costumes fit and will we be ready when the show starts? For this show it is more of can we get all the quick changes done in time. Only time will tell.”
Benjamin Segel, who plays Monty, said he’s excited about the production and the cast that will be performing it.
“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder has quickly become one of my all-time favorite productions. It isn’t just the amazing music or the brilliance of the writing and its comedic timing, but it is being able to work on this production with my close friends,” Segel said. “The cast’s encouragement along with our leaders JanaBeth and Rob have created a beautiful synergy on stage that I can’t wait to share with my lovely hometown.”
