Floyd Proctor

Floyd W. Proctor, 85, of Lawson Road (Busti) Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:20 am Sunday, October 1, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family after battling Alzheimer’s for the last several years.

Born in Springcreek, PA on April 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Homer W. Proctor and Clara (Hilliaker) Mitchell. He grew up in Columbus, PA and also attended school in Columbus. He served in the United States Navy. Before retirement, he was owner and operator of Floyd W. Proctor Enterprises for 35 years.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 170. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family, especially taking great joy in his precious great grand-babies these last few years. One of his favorite pastimes was joy riding down the old dirt roads in PA for many hours at a time. Floyd was a former member of the Corry Moose, Lakewood American Legion, Jamestown Elks and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Sylvia Proctor whom he married April 24, 1970; 4 daughters, Sheela (Ted) Kosinski of Lakewood, NY, Cinama (Rob) Proctor, Busti, NY, Debbie (Bill) Thompson of Jamestown, NY and Theresa (Terrie) Larson of Busti, NY; 2 sisters, Audrey Hamilton of Spartansburg, PA and Kay Elder of Chandlers Valley, PA; 1 brother, Albert “Skid” (Mary Jane) Proctor of Lakewood, NY; 9 grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Weaver of Panama, NY, Levi Mitchener of Falconer, NY, Katie (Scott) Weilacher of Busti, NY, Jim (Amy) Larson of Busti, NY, Dakota (Caty) Proctor-Burch of Clarendon, PA, Charlynn and Lamonica Proctor-Burch of Busti, NY, Matthew and Thomas Kosinski of Lakewood, NY; 9 great grandchildren, Collin Mitchener of Falconer, NY, Ashlynn and Norah Weaver of Panama, NY, Peyton and Ethan Weilacher of Busti, NY, Conway and Hans Larson of Busti, NY, Oakleigh and Braelyn Proctor-Burch of Clarendon, PA and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Paloncy on Aug. 25, 1994, 2 sisters, Ann Hildum and Carol Hallgren; a grandaughter, Angel Nicole Paloncy and a son-in-law, Dan Larson on June 14, 2017. Friends will be received Tuesday 5 8 pm at McKinney Funeral Homes, 117 Main Street, Sugar Grove, PA where a funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Graveside services will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery Lakewood, NY.
