Jennie Dobson
Jennie L. Dobson was born in South Wilmerding, Pennsylvania on June 25, 1923, to Sophie and Stanley Liput, Sr. She was married to Howard F. Dobson on October 30, 1945, in DuBois, Pennsylvania and widowed on May 24, 1998, after over 52 years of marriage.
She graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Westinghouse Memorial High School, Wilmerding, Pennsylvania in 1940. She also was an honor graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) in December 1943 with a B.S. degree in Secretarial Studies with a teaching option. She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honorary. Because of World War II, the secretarial program was expedited, and the students were required to go to classes the summer of 1943, thus graduating in December 1943 instead of June 1944. Secretaries were vital to the war effort.
She worked as a Confidential Secretary at Westinghouse Electrical Corporation, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from December 1943 to June 1954 when she resigned awaiting the birth of first child, Jill, in October. She also taught at Youngsville High School in 196667.
She was a Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church for 17 years, a Charter Member of the Warren Lioness Club from 1984 to 2006 and held offices at Home Street School PTA, Welcome Wagon Newcomers Club, and Lioness Club.
