Glenn Slocum

Glenn Slocum, 90, of Warren, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Glenn was born June 13, 1927, in East Hickory, PA. He was the son of the late Lawrence Wilford and Emma Schwab (Thompson) Slocum.

Glenn was a 1945 graduate of Warren High School. He was employed by the Tree Co., and the Blackstone Corporation, but spent most of his career at Sylvania in Shipping/Receiving from which he retired after 35 years. Glenn loved to fish and hunt–on two occasions he shot trophy deer in New York State. In his younger years, he was a member of the Circle 8 Square Dancers and the Tarrs Stars Round Dancing. His family will always remember his love for the 4th of July, and he would always secure a place to sit for the Warren County 4th of July Parade.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Geraldine (Baker) Slocum; one daughter, Karen Dalrymple, and husband, Larry, of Warren; daughterinlaw, Lynda Slocum, of Warren; two sisters, Carol Ann Johnson and Shirley Witherell, both of Warren; four grandchildren, Patrick Dalrymple of Orlando, FL, Bret Slocum, and wife, Regan, of Lake Orion, MI, Jennifer Fox, and husband, Stephen, of Warren, and Glenn Andrew Slocum, of Warren; five greatgrandchildren, Tyler and Paige McCullough, Mason, Madelyn and Brayden Slocum; two stepgreatgrandchildren, Joseph and Matthew Wahoski; one greatgreatgranddaughter, Sydney Marie McCullough; two sistersinlaw, Mary Swanson, of Lakewood, NY, and Patty Bennett, of Jamestown, NY; brotherinlaw, Dennis Bennett, of Jamestown, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death on July 5, 2014, by his son, Glenn Lawrence Slocum; seven siblings, James W. Slocum, and wife, Dorothy, Imogene Taylor, and husband, Clyde, Alberta Wert, and husband, Ralph, June Johnson, and husband, Harry, Virginia Drayer, and husband, Tom, Rex Slocum, and wife, Helen, and Robert Slocum, and wife, Joyce; and six brothersinlaw, Dave Johnson, Dale Witherell, Robert Miller, Leslie Bennett, Rodney Bennett, and William Baker.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Sunday, April 8, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Monday, April 9, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there with Pastor Tim Olsen, and Rev. Dorothy Hilliard, coofficiating.

Burial will follow in Warren County Memorial Park.
