George Simmons

George A. Simmons Jr. (Butch) passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Warren Manor, Warren, PA.

He was born May 8, 1949 in Jamestown, NY to George and Sybil Mowris Simmons. He’s a lifelong resident of Jamestown before moving to Warren, PA in 2015.

Butch was a 1967 graduate of Southwestern Central High School and attended Edinboro State University. For many years, prior to an auto accident in 1981, he was the owner and operator of SchuylerSimmons Catering in the Fairmount Plaza in Jamestown. He was a long time member of the Masonic Temple and the First United Methodist Church.

Butch was an avid sportsman. He loved hunting and fishing and made trips to Florida and Canada to do both. Butch had a great sense of humor and loved to talk to anyone and everyone. He remembered in great detail many people, places and events of the past and loved to share those events with family and friends.

Butch is survived by two children: Kelly Simmons of Freedom, PA and Scott (Kristen) Simmons of Johnstown, OH; two grandsons: Cooper and Levi Simmons of Ohio; a brother: Craig A. Simmons (Richard Ernst) of Syracuse, NY; a sister: Kay S. (Christopher) Widdowson of Warren, PA; nephews and nieces: Colby (Kaitlin) Widdowson of Harrisburg, PA, Brian (Dianne) Button of Newfane, NY, Jeremy Button of WA, Shannon Button of Buffalo, NY, Melodee (Steven) Zaricki of Nanticoke, PA, Georgette (Charles) Hilton and Joshua Hilton of Lexington, KY; his former wife: Linda Simmons Chirdon of Pittsburgh, PA.

George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sybil Mowris Simmons; a sister: Patricia Button and a brotherinlaw: Rue Button.

Family and friends may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, Inc., 316 East Fifth Street, Jamestown, NY on Friday from 47 PM and on Saturday from noon until the time of the service there at 1 PM. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, NY.
