Martha E. “Marty” Adams, 79, of Warren, Pa., died peacefully with her family at her side, Saturday Nov. 13, 2021, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.

Marty was born May 31, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Elizabeth Wood Steward. She was a graduate of John Marshall High School, Cleveland, Ohio, where she was an outstanding baton twirler. In 1964, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin Wallace College. She was employed as a home economics teacher by Midpark High School, Cleveland, Ohio, where she also was the instructor for the majorettes. She moved to Warren, Pa., where she has resided for the past 40 years. She was employed as the manager of the Women’s Club of Warren, and she greeted then Vice President George H. W. Bush when he was the keynote speaker at a Congressman Bill Clinger fundraiser luncheon.

She also taught in the Warren County School District, teaching home economics, at Eisenhower, Youngsville, Warren, and Sheffield High School, retiring in 2003.

She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and she was a member of the Quilt Guild. Marty was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s group, Kinzua Doll Club and Warren Antique Study Club. She was a very active volunteer at Warren General Hospital and the Warren Cancer Center, where she became the founder and coordinator of the volunteer program, which helped patients with meals, activities and games to help patients during chemotherapy treatments. Marty especially enjoyed traveling, whether locally or abroad, and cruising. In the past year, she has enjoyed her time at the Rouse Bridges. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and her cat, Chamberlein. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Marty is survived by her husband of 58 years, James C. Adams, whom she married Aug. 24, 1963, in Cleveland, Ohio; 2 daughters: Shari Adams of Richmond, Va., and Karen Adams Trapasso (Andrew) of Syracuse, N.Y.; and granddaughter, Ava Elizabeth Trapasso.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, Pa., on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, from 6-8 p.m., and on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Av.e, East, Warren, Pa., from 10-11 a.m., funeral and committal service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. Full masks and six feet social distancing is required. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio.
