Robert L. Hansen
Robert L. Hansen, 82, of Warren, Pa., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at his residence following a recent illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born Oct. 28, 1939, in Warren, the son of the late Grover and Frances Burke Hansen.
A lifelong area resident, he was a 1957 graduate of the Warren High School. He then enlisted and served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. He was stationed in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, and many state side bases. Some of the medals he received include the Bronze Star, the National Defense Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Korea Defense Medal, and the Vietnam Defense Medal.
Bob was a member of the Tidioute Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8803, where he was a past commander, a member of the Youngsville American Legion, the Veteran’s Council of Warren, the Struthers Hose, and the Sugar Grove AMVETS.
Following his retirement from the service, he enjoyed many days at his camp hunting, fishing, and spending time with his fellow camp friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Egger Han-sen, whom he married on Dec. 5, 1959; four children: Douglas Hansen (Janet) of Russell, Pa., Debra Becklund (Justin) of Scandia, Pa., Paul Hansen of Sugar Grove, Pa., and Curtis Hansen (Joni), also of Sugar Grove; 11 grand- children; 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by five brothers: Dave, Jerry, Ken, Richard and Billy Hansen.
Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Pen-na. Ave. East, Warren, Pa., on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, from 2-3 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there, with lay pastor Roger Snyder, officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard.
Burial will in the Oakland Cemetery privately and at the convenience of the family.
