Leonard D. Brown
Leonard D. Brown, 68, of Mt. Jewett, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 7, 2022, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1953, in Warren, the son of the late Archie and Dorothy (Wagner) Brown. On April 19, 1975 in Warren County, he married Debora C.Vicini who survives.
Leonard graduated from Warren Area High School in 1971. He was raised in Warren until he and his wife moved to West Palm Beach, Fla., where they lived for five years. They returned in 1978 to live in Mt. Jewett, when he became employed with National Fuel Gas. He spent the next 43 years working on pipelines stretching across Pennaylvania and New York. During his career he made several close friends and acquaintances.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, reading and spending time at his family’s camp. He was an avid Penn State Football fan.
Leonard was a cubmaster and assistant scoutmaster for several years and loved the camping activities. He also helped his two sons achieve Eagle Scout awards. They also attended Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for two weeks in 1994.
Leonard also loved spending time with his wife and daughter gardening, canoeing, fishing, projects and snowshoeing. He was instrumental in helping start the Pee Wee Baseball league in Mt. Jewett and coached all three of his children. He was a member of the Mt. Jewett Sportsman Club, the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club, the Eagles, the Sheffield Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Mt. Jewett Sons of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife Debora, he is survived by one, son Jared Brown of Kane; a daughter, Elisha Brown of Mt. Jewett; two brothers: Charles Brown of Bellows Fall, Vt., and Dennis (Jane) Brown of Penn Furnace; two sisters: Arleigh F. Reynolds of Alma, N.Y., and Christine (Tom) Raleigh of Warren; a brother-in-law, Donald (Charnae) Vicini II; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Archie Sr. (Gertrude) Brown; an uncle, Richard (Mayvis) Curtin; his in-laws, Don and Doris Vicini; a beloved son, Dustin B. Brown, who passed away from a concussion; a brother-in-law, Mike Reynolds; several aunts and uncles; and his best friend, Dale F. Carrow.
Friends and family will be received from 5-7 p.m., on April 21, 2022, at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 410 of Mt. Jewett or the Leonard Brown Memorial Fund at any CNB Bank or Erie Bank branches.
