Mary Lorrine Steffan, 92, a lifelong resident of Sheffield, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 19, 2022, with her loving family by her side at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, Pennsylvania. Mary was born on February 20, 1930, in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was the only child and daughter of Edward and Julia Lindblade Hice. Mary attended schools in Erie, Pennsylvania, Tucson, Arizona and Los Angeles, California. Mary spent her senior year at Sheffield High School, where she graduated with the class of 1948. On June 25, 1949, she married the love of her life, Michael Steffan, who passed away in 2006.

Left behind to cherish Mary’s memory are four children: Michael, Jr. (Margo) Steffan of Sheffield, David (Shelley) Steffan of Sheffield, Jamie (Julie) Steffan of Sheffield and Marlene (Scott) Austin of St. Petersburgh, Pennsylvania and one daughter in law, Vanessa (late Scott). Surviving are also fifteen grandchildren: Matthew, Shawn, Angela, Mark, April, Heather, Laura, Gregory, Ceara, Ryan, Shawna, Kayla, Alicia, Kristie, and Zachary and 29 great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son, Scott Steffan in 2014

Mary was a devoted active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, of Sheffield. Most of all, family was everything to Mary. Since she was an only child, she loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She and Mike spent their entire lives doing everything they could for their family. They never missed a sporting event or any of their other activities, especially basketball games. Mary and Mike were devoted Sheffield Wolverine fans.

Mary’s family will welcome family and friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 4:00 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Church Street in Sheffield. Pastor David Pfleiger will officiate. Everyone should meet at the church. Burial will follow at the Sheffield Cemetery.
