Theodore Bleech

Theodore “Ted” Bleech, 83, of Warren, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with CLL. He was the son of the late George and Anna Mae Seder Bleech. He was a 1958 graduate of Warren High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for 28 years and four months, retiring as chief Master sergeant. Ted was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retiring as chief master sergeant after 28 years service. He was the recipient of the Airman’s Medal for heroism while serving in the Philippines. Other accomplishments were the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic. Of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After his military service Ted settled in the Pocono Mountains where he worked for 17 years as a window clerk for the United States Postal Service. He and his wife came back to Warren in 2005 to be closer to family and help care for his mother.

Ted was an active member with Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, where he was past president of the church parish council, served on the funeral luncheon committee, sang in the choir, loved being a lector and was a eucharistic minister. Anything involving the church he was there. Ted was recently named an Honorary Member of the Warren Knights of Columbus Council.

He enjoyed golfing in the Senior League at Blueberry Golf Course, hunting, fishing, and bowling.

Ted is survived by his wife, Arminta Luker Bleech, whom he married 58 years ago on Aug. 20, 1964; siblings Sylvia Caldiero (Vincent, dec), Nancy McKelvy (Donald), George (Tim) Bleech (Denice). Ron and Patty Wetzel were also a big part of his life and Ted looked on them as family. He dearly enjoyed and loved his nieces and nephews: Scott Caldiero, Randy (MaryJean), Matthew McKelvy (Jennifer), Andrew Mc Kelvy (Kelly), Timothy Bleech (Kristen); and great nieces and nephews: Ava, Skyler, Noah, Stella, Delaney, Madelyn, Ian and Jack.

He was preceded in death by his beloved nephew, Kevin Bleech.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, Pa., on Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m., and on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 A a.m.with Father Stephen Schreiber, pastor, officiating, assisted by Deacon Raymond Wiehagen. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Sheffield, Pa., where full military honors will be conducted by the Sheffield, Clarendon V.F.W. and Warren American Legion Post 135 funeral honor guard and the U.S. Air Force Personnel.
