Ruth E. Lundeen

Ruth E. Lundeen, 90, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, in UPMC Chautauqua.

An area resident for most of her life, she was born Jan. 3, 1932, in Findley Lake, N.Y., the only child of the late Rev. Arra D. and Ruth Burley McGill.

Ruth was a graduate of Riverside High School in Buffalo, NY.

In earlier years, she was employed by the General Mills Company in Buffalo, N.Y. as an accounting secretary. She later worked in the snack shop at WCA Hospital and was a volunteer for the hospital for many years.

She was a longtime member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church in Jamestown, and was also active in the Mary Martha Circle at the Youngsville United Methodist Church. Youngsville, Pa. She served many churches in the United Brethren and United Methodist denominations alongside her husband.

She will be remembered as a very loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time knitting, crocheting, cooking, and doing crafts. She will also be remembered for her kindness to others by the many cards and letters of encouragement she sent to her friends and family to brighten their day.

Surviving are her two children: Kevin Lundeen of Findley Lake, and Karolanne (Gustavo) Pacheco of Doha, Qatar; three grandchildren: Luke Lundeen of Alfred, N.Y., Olivia Lundeen of Ripley, N.Y., and Leonidas Pacheco of Doha, Qatar.

Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Gerald M. “Jerry” Lundeen, whom she married July 28, 1951, and who died June 28, 2011; a daughter, Karen Lundeen Chase; and a grandson, Gustavo Lundeen Pacheco.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas LeBeau, pastor of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
