Lynn Firth
Lynn Firth, 81, of Shadyside Road, Jamestown, died Dec. 20, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April, 28, 1941 in Warren, Pa., the son of Neil and Dorothy Firth. He was raised by Homer and Lucy Lindell after his parents’ deaths.
Lynn was a graduate of Eisenhower High School, California State College, and Penn State University. He retired from Falconer Central School after a long career teaching Industrial Arts. He especially enjoyed his time working with students as advisor for the Future Farmers of America. He had previously worked at National Forge Co. for three years. With his family, he operated Firth Farm for 20 years, raising dairy heifers and growing corn and hay.
On July 25, 1964, he married Bonnie (Ekdahl) and they raised three daughters in Busti, N.Y. Lynn and his family were active in the Chautauqua County 4-H program for many years. He enjoyed traveling in the United States and internationally, square dancing, farming, and spending time with his family and friends. He and Bonnie opened their home to many exchange students from around the world.
Lynn was a long time member of Hessel Valley Lutheran Church in Chandlers Valley, Pa. He was honored to have served as a board member for over 40 years and treasurer for an additional 14 years. He enjoyed planning capital improvement projects and assisting with cemetery activities.
Lynn was predeceased by his wife, Bonnie, in 2004 and his brother, Leslie, in 2020. He is survived by three daughters: Michelle (Bryce) of Sayre, PA, Lynette (Allan) Evans of Ocklawaha, FL, and Jessica (Steve) Nonkes of Webster, NY; seven grandchildren: Jacob, Odessa (Jordan), and Olivia Evans, and John, Elizabeth, Lillian, and Genevieve Nonkes. Lynn is also survived by his sister, Betsy (David) Fowler of Knox, Pa.; his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Earl & JoAnn Ekdahl of Ithaca, NY, LaVerne and Diane Ekdahl of Chandlers Valley, PA, and Elaine Firth of Ridgewood, NJ; nine cousins, and 10 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Home, Sugar Grove, Pa. A Memorial Service will be held at Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, Chandlers Valley, PA, on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Nancy Schwanke officiating. Inurnment will be at Foster Cemetery, Lander, Pa., at the convenience of the family.
