Edward A. Jewell

Edward A. Jewell

Edward A. Jewell, 81, of Stoney Run, Pittsfield, Pa., died Monday, March 6, 2023, at the Corry Manor.

He was born November 18, 1941, in Freehold Township, a son of the late Charles and Twila (Bailey) Jewell.

Ed was raised and educated in the Pittsfield area and graduated from Youngsville High School in 1959. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge he worked at Corry Jamestown for 27 years. Ed also worked at Stateline at Eriez Speedway for multiple years.

Ed could be found every Friday night at 3:15 p.m. sharp at New Beginnings for fish fry. He wouldn’t miss a Sunday morning at 8 a.m. for breakfast at New Beginnings with Missy, Tom, Mikayla, Katie and Shannon. He enjoyed having breakfast Tuesday mornings at Mel’s in Corry, he started going with his sister Shirley then developed into meeting different family members there (Debi and Cindy Bull).

He was a lifetime member of the Wrightsville Fire Department. In his spare time he was always reading — thrillers or mysteries. He couldn’t get enough of word searches, word finds, Sudoku puzzles or anything that kept him thinking. On nice days he could be found outside with a walking stick, always on the move.

He could also tell you what every news channel was saying about the weather and how it was something different on each channel. If he didn’t have the news on you could catch him watching the Hallmark movie channel because “There is nothing else on”— we all know he just loved the movies.

He was the most loving, generous, kind man and he will be missed beyond words.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie (Stover) Jewell, whom he married on April 23, 1966, in Wrightsville, Pa.; son James Jewell; five sisters: Charlotte Black, Gladys Oviatt, Audrey Sickler, Marie McKinney and Shirley Bull; and brother David Jewell.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Melissa Jewell and her companion Tom Eyler of Pittsfield, Pa.; four grandchildren: Katie Eyler and her companion Shannon Johnson of Bear Lake, Pa., Mikayla Eyler of Pittsfield, Pa., Bree and Blake Jewell of Spring Creek, Pa., and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, PA 16407, on Friday, March 10, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 12 noon. The Rev. Tim Smitley will officiate.

Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Spring Creek, Pa.
