Arnold D. Allen
Arnold D. Allen, affectionately known as Bud, passed away on April 15, 2023 in Green Bay, WI. He was born on November 9, 1927 in Oil City, PA to Howard and Ruth (Platt) Allen. He graduated from Warren Area High School and went to Bryant Stratton Business School where he learned some pretty savvy sales skills that would later come in handy.
After meeting the love of his life, Mary E. Gnagey, the two were married on May 20, 1950 and celebrated 72 years of marriage together. They lived in Warren, PA until 2003 when they packed up their bags and moved to Green Bay, WI to be closer to their son Gail and daughter-in-law Diane.
Bud and Mary had four children, James (Linda Pace) of Hollywood, FL, Elizabeth James) Deigan of Brookeville, MD, Gail (Diane Schroepher), Barbara (Douglas) Merkel of Foster City, CA. Together they had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. That’s a whole lot of love to go around!
Throughout Bud’s career he wore many hats. From working at Evert’s Hardware in Warren to Penelec, Power Plant before becoming an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life for 27 years. Bud worked for 11 years for American General before retiring at age 65. He even worked at Peterson Blick Funeral Home in Warren in his post retirement years.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Shirley Passinger, Donna Dietsch, Winifred McNally, and his son, Gail A. Allen.
His legacy will live on as a dedicated family man, great story teller, golfer, talented woodworker, and a whiz at sales.
Let’s remember Bud and the joy he brought to the world. Rest in Peace Bud.
