Robert Clark

Bob crossed over and was received into his Heavenly Father’s everlasting arms on March 31, 2023, at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, PA , 44 days before his 94th Birthday. His relationship to Jesus Christ drove his desire to love God and neighbor, and this single factor defined his life. His love and faith have shaped 3 generations and counting.

Bob was born in Warren, PA May 14, 1929, to the late Gordon and Isabelle Clark, and raised in Youngsville, PA with his 2 siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Clark, and his brother, James Clark. Bob is survived by his younger brother, Denny Clark.

Bob is also survived by 4 children, Nancy Church of Denver, CO, Robert Clark (Judy) of Youngsville, PA, David Clark (Christine) of Pittsfield, PA, and John Clark (Mari) of South Bend, IN. His legacy continues with 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, as well as 19 beloved nieces and nephews, both living and deceased.

Bob attended Youngsville Elementary/High school and later attended and graduated from Youngsville High School in 1947.

Bob married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Helen A. Clark, at the Little Stone Church in Irvine on May 14, 1948. They enjoyed 71 years of Covenant Marriage, giving faithful witness to the power of God’s love in a marriage.

Bob worked as a lathe operator at the National Forge and later at Sylvania in Warren. He worked for a brief time for the PA Department of Revenue, then partnered with his father and brother, Jim, in the newly acquired family business, Clark’s Ford Inc. In 1963, four friends and Bob bought a drilling rig and started Penn Flo Oil Company. In 1968, he founded Gas and Oil Management with his partner, Edward Sullivan. Gas and Oil Management is now a third generation business operated by Bob’s grandsons.

Bob was reborn on March 17, 1950. You cannot really talk about Bob without recounting his faith and his love for Jesus and His people. Bob loved being encouraging other believers and will be remembered for being thankful for God’s gifts and encouraging others to discover the power of thankfulness.

Bob also demonstrated his faith in developing and supporting various Christian ministries. He taught everyone from children to adults, and was also an accomplished pianist, organist, and singer, as well as a fill-in speaker for various churches. He was instrumental in the establishment and funding of several orphanages in third world countries. He also funded several seminarians and helped those in need manage their finances. His last teaching position was simply named “Bobs Class”, and that was all the buzz needed to fill the room. He was also involved in the following Christian ministries: Evangelical United Methodist Church, Youngsville; Pittsfield Otterbein UMC; Praise Fellowship, Russell; Youngsville Free Methodist Church; Co-Founder of Days of Decision Retreat Center, Liberty, New York; Warren County Christian School Founding Board Member and Chairman of the Board for many years; Warren County Christian Singles; Gods Station Inc. (WGSI) Board member; Founder of Clark Foundation, Inc.; and Leader of Promise Keepers Men’s Ministry.

Bob was also civic minded and used his leadership gifts in the following organizations: Barber shoppers of Warren (Bob’s Father, Gordon, was a Charter Member of the Conewango Clippers); The Hot Stove Little League, which he helped found and which was the precursor of the Warren County Little League; Youngsville Swimming Pool board member (tasked to help raise funds for our Youngsville Community Pool); Pa Oil and Gas Association Board Member and Chairman of the Board; Warren County YMCA Board Member and Chief Fundraiser for the new YMCA in Warren; Penn Bank and Integra Bank Board Member; Conewango Valley Country Club Board Member and Board Chairman; Beagle Club board member and Chairman in Titusville.

Bobs hobbies included golfing and hunting with family and friends. He enjoyed his birddogs, coon hounds, and beagles, as well as horses and horsemanship. He loved the wonder of these animals and what they could be trained to do and how they bonded with their trainer/owner.

Bob loved all his children and grandchildren deeply throughout their lives, attending every type of event from school and sports to church programs and weddings. Bob took special delight in the arrival of great-grandchildren. He also had the privilege of being in personal loving relationships with nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. The example of love and forgiveness, shared by Bob and his wife, Helen, during their 71 years of marriage, and continued faithfully by Bob until his death, have had a profound impact upon generations of children, friends, and children of friends. Bob so warmly testified to his being blessed by the Lord; and now, we are warmly blessed by the memory of Bob, and the lessons and blessings he so generously shared.

Friends will be received at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church on Davis Street on Saturday, April 8 for visiting hours from 3:00 to 5:00, at which time a memorial service will be held, followed by a meal for family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Clark Foundation Inc., 80 Dillon Drive Youngsville, PA 16371, which is a non-profit ministry Bob started to support Christian Ministries.
