Kenneth Arthur Johnson
Kenneth Arthur Johnson, 63, of Russell, PA, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA, following a lengthy illness.
Ken was born on September 13, 1959, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late William R. Johnson and Laura E. Francis-Kelly Johnson. Ken was a 1977 graduate of Warren Area High School.
Ken began working at his father’s business, Warren Electric Motor Service, when he was in junior high. He worked alongside his dad for many years and retired from the business, as owner/operator in September of 2021. Ken enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, shooting trap and sporting clays, driving his Corvette, but he especially loved spending time with his bride, children and grandchildren. Ken was a member of the Eagles Club, Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club, a former member of the Pine Grove Sportsmans Club. Ken was active at the Button Valley Bombers RC Airplane Club in Blockville, NY, a hobby that he started with his father.
Ken is survived by his wife Carol M. Cook Johnson, whom he married on November 7, 1981; children, Nichole M. Rulander and husband Dylan of Allison Park, PA, and Kelly A. West and husband Mitch of Warren; grandchildren, Nolan Arthur Rulander (6), Quinn Laura West (5), and Jameson Lee West (1); brother, Charles W. Johnson and wife Pamela of Painesville, OH; sister-in-law’s, Paula Slagle and husband Scot of Russell, Sheryl Ash and husband Mark of Russell, and Cheryl Cook of Warren; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Paul “Butch” Cook; and close friend, Lynn Schnarrs.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna Ave. E, Warren, PA, on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, and one hour prior to a service that will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 11:00am, with Reverend Rick Hamrick, Youngsville Free Methodist, pastor, officiating.
