Gail Robert King

Gail was born on July 8, 1962, in Warren, the son of the late Robert W. and Deann C. (Swanson) King. He was a 1980 graduate of Warren Area High School, and just weeks after joined the U.S. Army and served four years. He returned to Warren and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for thirty-four years and served as an officer in the local Postal Carrier’s Union, retiring in 2019. He was a faithful member of the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church and worked the soup kitchen there for several years.

Gail was an avid sports guy, beginning with Little League Baseball and later in life as a Little League softball coach and served on the Little League Board. In high school he ran Cross Country, played Warren Dragon’s basketball and baseball. He was an avid supporter of Dragon’s football and could be found many fall Friday nights in his spot in the stands with his friend, Rob Mattern.

In his time in the U.S. Army, he played on the All-Army Men’s Fastpitch Softball team that played throughout the US. He later played Legion baseball, YMCA floor hockey, Warren Rec League Softball, and the Randolph Men’s softball league. Gail was an avid Cleveland Indians fan always and a Las Vegas Raiders fan. He also enjoyed hiking and hiked 100 miles of the North Country Trail.

Gail will long be remembered by family and his many friends for always being a guy who was easy to call a friend for his generosity and commitment to others. He was always a blood donor and, in his passing, continues to give through organ donation. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He loved spending time with his family and especially with his grandchildren.

Gail is survived by his wife, Paula M. (Beardsley) King, whom he married on October 17, 1987; his children, Garret P. King and wife Mandy of Pleasant Township, and Grace G. Cameron and husband Sylas of Pleasant Township; his grandchildren, Meera and Mason King, and Ellery Cameron; his brother, Mark King and wife Chris of Warren, his sisters, Holly Domville and husband Bob of Warren, and Michelle Bupp and husband Mark of Warren; his in-laws, Clair and Marian Beardsley of Warren; his brothers-in-law, Andy Beardsley and wife Jane of Warren, and Greg Beardsley and wife Susan of North East; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc. 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA on Friday June 30, from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 1, at 1:00 pm at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 11 Russell St. Warren, PA, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Schrieber, officiating.
