Samuel Henry Bailey, 64, of Warren, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a year long battle to recover from heart transplant surgery.

Sam was born July 11, 1959, in Warren, the son of the late Henry and Ellen Tranter Bailey. He was a 1977 graduate of Warren Area High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work at Mansfield State College in Mansfield, PA. He later took accounting classes from Mercyhurst College and Jamestown Community College. Sam was a lifelong resident of Warren and was employed for over 40 years as an accountant at Kersey & Associates where he worked with many close friends and clients.

Sam was an active and dedicated volunteer in many local organizations. He served as treasurer for PTAs, his son’s Boy Scout troop, Friends of the Library Theater, Warren Players, and the Crary Art Gallery. He took joy at the Library Theater often as the sound board operator, projectionist, and performing in a few productions himself. Sam was also a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Jamestown, NY.

Sam was an avid lover of cars from a young age, trading often and proudly enjoying 27 cars over his lifetime. Most notably he enjoyed long winding drives in his Mazda Miata convertible.

Sam’s friends and family meant the world to him and he most enjoyed spending his time with them on vacations, holidays or any occasion. He sought every opportunity to be around those he loved.

Sam is survived by his son, Alex Bailey of Erie, PA; brothers, Jamie Bailey of Westlake, OH, and Rick Bailey of Bowling Green, KY; several nieces and nephews, many cousins, and countless friends.

Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. A time of sharing will be held at 12:30 pm. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Library Theater – PO Box 575 Warren, PA 16365.
