Stan was born in Erie, PA, on February 15, 1949, to Irene Ignaczak Kobielski and Louis Joseph Kobielski. He attended Tech Memorial High School in Erie, PA. He also attended Penn State Behrend campus for 2 years and Penn State Main campus, graduating with a four-year degree majoring in Forestry and Natural Resources Management. Stan’s career with the Forestry allowed him to travel all over the U.S. He worked in New Hampshire, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the Philadelphia areas. Wherever there was a National Forest, he was there.
Stan was very close to his brother and loved spending time with him and his family every weekend. They would work on projects. Each year they went hunting and fishing together, his brother built a shooting trap and they enjoyed friendly competition. Stan settled in Warren, PA where he was an active member of The Fitness Connection, The Allegheny Outdoor Club, and Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club.
He married Cheryl Swartz on Christmas Eve 2004, and they made their dream home on the Allegheny River in Warren, PA. They shared a special love, and were always together hiking, biking, cross country skiing, hunting for deer sheds, yard sales, and time spent with family were their favorite pastimes.
Stan could be found in the woods cutting firewood and blaring Meatloaf, Tina Turner, or the Mavericks in his truck cassette player. He had a zest for life and thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois; and brother, Lou.
Stan is survived by his sister Jane (Don) Mallin of Erie, PA; several nieces and nephews; great niece and nephew whom he truly enjoyed.
He is also survived by the love of his life, Cheryl, and their fur baby Lia, who was papa’s girl; stepsons, Michael (Frannie) Swartz, and Robert (Melanie) Foreman.
