William A. “Billy Bob” Acklin
William A. “Billy Bob” Acklin, 63, a lifelong resident of Warren, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
Bill was born August 15, 1960, in Warren, the son of the late William E. Acklin and Janice L. Hoffman Dehmler, who survives. He was a 1978 graduate of Warren Area High School. He was employed at Glade Township for over 20 years and prior to the township he worked for over 25 years, which was his real passion of running oil rigs. For nearly 40 years he was a dedicated hard worker. He also made time to work with his good friend Mike at Whitmire Block during the summer months. When he wasn’t working his on his boat he was in the lake or river pole casting or in a tree stand waiting for his next big buck.
Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter, many referred to him as “Walleye Willie”. He spent countless hours on the Allegheny Reservoir and participated in competitive Walleye tournaments. He enjoyed riding ATV’s, shooting ranges and loved playing softball. He was on the Rec League for over a decade. Bill was a member of the Eagles Club and the Bradford Rod & Gun Club. Bill will be sadly missed by his family and countless friends.
Bill is survived by his companion of 40 years, Wendy Albaugh; daughter, Amber Acklin Albaugh, at home; granddaughter, Reighn Leigh Albaugh; brother, Ed Acklin and wife Libby of Warren; sisters, Joni Dowst and her companion Mike of Gainesville, FL, and Christine Goughnour and husband Jeff of Erie, PA; nieces and nephews, include Willy, “Nater,” Abby, Jessie, Shelly, Brian, Chad, Jeni, and Mindi.
In addition to his father William E. Acklin, Bill was preceded in death by his lifelong friend and fishing partner, Jimmy Connolly.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
