Weston W. Wilcox

Weston W. Wilcox, 86, of Sugar Grove, PA, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024 following a 10 year courageous battle with Parkinson’s.

He was born on April 27, 1938, in Russell, PA, to the late Warren and Margaret (Davidson) Wilcox. Wes was a 1956 graduate of Northern Area High School. He entered the US Navy in 1958 and served in the US Naval Air Division in Newfoundland performing hazardous flying duties. He was also in the US Naval Reserves. Wes returned to spend the rest of his life in the Lander and Sugar Grove areas where he was a partner at Wilcox Brothers Construction and Hardware Co. in Sugar Grove. Eventually, Wes owned and operated the business.

Not only did Wes serve his country, but he served his community. He was a Boy Scout Cubmaster, a past Township Supervisor, served many years on the Borough Council and was also a member of the Sugar Grove Business Group. He was a life member of the Sugar Grove American Legion Post 758 where he served for many years as both the Vice Commander and Commander. Wes also served as the Pennsylvania American Legion 28th District Commander of the Dept. of PA.

Wes was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and past president of the Metropolitan Car Club. He played ball in the “Over Thirty League” and bowled in several Leagues. Wes enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, antique cars and motorcycles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Janet (Houck) Wilcox, who he married on July 11, 1959 in Russell, PA. Children Patricia (Bob) Carrington, Charlene (Paul) Church, Christi (Matt) Ash and Mark Wilcox. Grandchildren Justin and Dan Ash, Nick Church, Megan Carfangia, Amber Walters and Lindsey Wilcox. Great-grandchildren Rylee Sayas, Logan Bancoft, Owen, Conner and Avery Ash, Annabelle and Natalie Carfangia. Brothers Jack, Frank and Lawrence Wilcox and sisters Delores Bartlett and Freda Pyles.

In addition to his parents, Wes was preceded in death by his sister, Carrie Sweeney.

Per Wes’ wishes, no services will be held at this time.
