Dr. Ramon Elvir Jr.
Dr. Ramon Elvir Jr., of Youngsville passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at home. He was born January 30, 1936, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
His life was marked by a deep love for traveling the globe, enjoying fine cuisine and wine, and treasuring moments spent with family and friends.
He leaves behind his beloved older sister, Irma S. Elvir, residing in Rochester, Minnesota, as well as his nieces, Carmen Arett and Yolanda Arett, also of Rochester, MN.
Dr. Elvir completed his early education in his home country of Honduras before earning his medical doctorate in Guatemala. Soon after, he interviewed for a physician position in Youngsville, Pennsylvania, while in Colorado. Dr. Elvir dedicated over 40 years of service to the Youngsville Community as an obstetrician-gynecologist/family practice doctor. He was on Medical Staff at Warren General Hospital where he served on several committees including Credentialing and Tumor Board. He was a longstanding member of the American Academy of Family Practice as well as the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He maintained Board Certification throughout his years of practice. He served as a Deputy Coroner for Warren County, along with being the Warren County School District Physician for many years. He was well known to be one of the few physicians who made house calls when in practice with Dr. Richard Peters.
A memorial service will be held at McKinney Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., in Youngsville on Thursday November 14, 2024 at 3 pm.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Warren General Hospital or a charity of choice in his memory.
