JoAnn Dorrion
JoAnn Laura Ettinger Fitch Dorrion, 92, of Warren, PA, passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
JoAnn was born July 15, 1932, in Warren, the daughter of the late William Orlo Ettinger and Esther Christine Lawson Ettinger, where she resided all her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Warren High School. JoAnn worked several places in Warren including Betty Dixon Candies, Walker Dairy, and New Process. She found her niche managing school cafeterias including Beaty-Warren Middle School, North Warren Elementary, Pleasant Elementary, Russell Elementary, and retired while managing Eisenhower Jr./Sr. High School in 1994 to take care of her spouse, Donald Edward Fitch.
JoAnn always had a love for kids of any age. She found volunteering extremely satisfying. She enjoyed reading stories to preschoolers at Santa’s House, directing the Salvation Army Kitchen Band, being a RSVP volunteer teaching middle school students to knit, and participating as a member of the Class of 1950 reunion planning committee. After her husband Don passed, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter, Barbara, or with her friends, Paula, Gina, Gail, and many others. When not traveling, she walked dogs and had many shopping adventures with Deb. She loved playing Bocce and belonged to several different groups to play cards. JoAnn and Gerry traveled, belonged to a camping and motorcycle club and were active with the Shriners. After Gerry’s passing, she moved in with her daughter, Debbie. She loved to shop and do word search puzzles until entering Cambridge Assisted living in September of 2020.
JoAnn is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Jo Yucha and husband Marty of Warren, and Deborah Lynn Fitch of Warren; one grandson, Trevor M. Yucha and wife Josephine; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel J. Yucha, Sebastiano P. Yucha, and Natalia P. Yucha; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Dorrion, whom she married on Jan. 22, 2011; first husband, Donald Edward Fitch; a grandson, Dale J. Yucha; and three sisters, Adelaide Welsh, Autumn Doherty, and Joyce York.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA, on Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, from 10 am to 11 am, at which time a service will be held with Reverend Jeffrey York, pastor, Calvary Chapel, officiating.
