Joy Louise (Bates) Beck

Joy Louise (Bates) Beck, 88, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Joy was once a very active member of the Vermont Order of the Eastern Star Temple Chapter 75 and Farrah Grotto of Warren, PA. She was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was a homemaker for most of her life while raising her children and in her latter years, but also had worked as a bank teller, bank secretary, receptionist, and a volunteer school librarian assistant. She was always an active participant in any of the churches she attended and until the end enjoyed her old-time gospel hymns.

Joy is survived by her husband, Elwood, of 65 years; her daughter, Virginia “Ginny” of Youngsville, PA; her son, Chris of Sacramento, CA and her brother, Elmer and his wife, Michiko Bates of San Diego, CA. Along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Patrick “Pat” Beck in 2018 and being the youngest of nine children she will now be with her parents, sisters and brothers again. She was loved by many and will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and community. Her name suited her well by bringing ‘Joy’ to all those that met her.

A celebration of Joy’s life will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 12pm with one hour of visitation prior at the New Life Church, 18 Second St. Youngsville, PA 16371. She will then be laid to rest at the Newton Cemetery in Emporium, PA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the AseraCare Hospice, payable to Amedisys Foundation, 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Her family greatly thanks them for taking such wonderful and exceptional care with respect and dignity of their loving wife and mother.
