Carlene Devereaux Cochran

Carlene Devereaux Cochran, 74, of Sheffield, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

She was born on February 7, 1950, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Merle and Elizabeth Barton Devereaux Kipple. She attended Eisenhower High School and Erie Barber School Inc., earning her degree in 1976. Carlene owned and operated Carlene Cochran’s Barber Shop in Sheffield, PA, retiring after 38 years in 2015.

Carlene was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning. She loved vacations at the beach with family and friends. She loved many dogs over the course of her life, especially Bon, who would go to work with her every day and welcome all her customers. Carlene will be remembered for her strong-willed spirit and love of her family.

Left to cherish Carlene’s memory are her husband of 41 years, John Cochran, of Sheffield, PA, whom she married on April 25, 1983. Her daughter, Carina Johnson Olson and companion Ryan Lundeen, of Kane, PA, a grandson, Steven Olson and companion Laura Mcalee, of Kane, PA, a stepdaughter, Jodie Cochran Treadway and her husband Allen, Beckley, WV, a stepgrandaughter, Morgan Treadway, several nieces and nephews, especially her niece, Connie Cochran Barr of Sheffield, PA and her special friend and sister- in- law Charlotte Cochran, of Sheffield, PA.

Carlene is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Mary Devereaux Taylor, Mildred Devereaux Williams, Leslie Devereaux, LaVerne (Lee) Devereaux, Chet Devereaux, Frank Devereaux, a stepbrother, Wayne Kipple and two brothers-in-law, Richard and DuWayne Cochran.

The family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Sheffield Food Pantry, PO Box 721, Sheffield, PA 16347 of the Sheffield VFW, PO Box 431, Sheffield, PA 16347.

Private visitation and funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield, PA and will be officiated by Pastor William Beatty. A private burial will follow at the Sheffield Cemetery.
