Dorothy A. Klakamp
Dorothy Ann Klakamp, 88, of Pittsfield, PA, and formerly of Warren and Russell, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at the Warren Manor.
Dorothy was born Aug. 14, 1936, in Warren, the daughter of the late George and Martha Ristau Baker. Dorothy and her late husband Roy owned and operated several food establishments and laundromats over many years. They operated the “floating’ restaurant at Kinzua Marina and the concession stand at the Kinzua beach in the early 1970s. Later in the 70s, Dorothy could be found working alongside her husband at Roy’s Humdinger in Pleasant township for many years during which time they employed many of the neighborhood teenagers for their very first job. Dorothy also worked with Roy every Saturday and Sunday night feeding the masses at the concession stands at Stateline and Eriez Speedways in the late 70s, and early 80s. Dorothy’s last co-adventure in the food industry was baking the scrumptious pies for their local hometown diner: Roy’s Texas Lunch. She could also be found most mornings helping behind the counter at the dry-cleaning window of the Kozy Korner Laundromat which they also owned, next door to the Texas Lunch.
Dorothy enjoyed Nascar Racing which they had season tickets for several tracks, as well as for the Buffalo Bills. She also enjoyed reading the paper every morning and doing the crosswords, and would watch any football game on TV she could find, even if it wasn’t the Bills or Kansas City – her #2 NFL team or Penn State, her favorite college team. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by two children, Scott Klakamp and wife Jennifer of Camarillo California, and Rebecca Klakamp Sandt and husband Craig of Wrightsville, PA; two grandchildren, Tyler (Lindsay) Laird of Russell, Pa., and Alexis (fiance, Justin Rowland) Laird of Tampa, FL; two step-grandchildren, Jake (Kim) Sandt of Warren, PA, and Dawn (John) Wesolowski of Corry, PA; great-grandchildren, Layla Laird, Amelia and Oliver Sandt, Madilyn and Nieko Wesolowski; and several nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy on Jan. 12, 2000, whom she married on June 7, 1954; and two brothers, George, and Gordon Baker.
There will be no services for Dorothy held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience. Internment of the ashes will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Russell, PA.
