Margaret E. “Peggy” Chase

Margaret E. “Peggy” Chase, 98, a longtime resident of Starbrick, passed away on Sunday morning, December 15, 2024 at the Warren County Rouse Home.

Peggy was born on July 28, 1926, in Warren County, PA, to the late Arthur J. and Katheryn (Thompson) Hamblin. She was a 1944 graduate of the Warren High School and went on to work as a stenographer/clerical at local businesses such as Metzger and Wrights Dept. Store and later for G.L.F. She was a longtime member of the EUB/EUM Church in Youngsville, and volunteered at the Salvation Army, Starbrick PTA and the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Warren Community Center.

Peggy married the love of her life, Charles R. “Charlie” Chase on October 16, 1948, in Irvine, PA. They were married for over 46 years, until his death on August 31, 1995.

Peggy was a lover of music. As a mother, she instilled a deep appreciation of music in her children. She enjoyed playing piano, singing and most notably dancing.

Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charlie; her daughter Charlene Fleming; her sisters Hazel Smith, Bea Wing, Doris Colter, and Betty Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Kathy Chase-Johnson (James) of Columbia, SC; her son Scott Chase (Denise Brown) of Russell, PA; her grandchildren Charles Johnson (Sarah), Sebastian Fleming, Bartholomew Fleming, and Amelia Keith (Jarrett), her great-grandchildren Janay, Jaxon, and Ani; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours and a memorial service for Peggy will be held at Nelson Funeral Home at 314 North Main Street, Youngsville, PA 16371. Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 28th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the service will take place at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jim Hunt officiating. Following the service, at 2 p.m., a reception will be held at the American Legion at 10 N Main St, Youngsville, PA 16371. Interment will take place at Westview Cemetery.
