Lawrence “Warren” Moore
Lawrence “Warren” Moore, 90, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Kinzua Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Warren was born on March 2, 1934, in Fletcher Village, Ohio, the son of the late Lawrence and Elma Byerly Moore. Warren graduated from Harrison Adams High School in Rosewood, Ohio. in 1952, Following graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served during the tail end of the Korean War.
Upon returning from the service he was a dairy farmer and worked at Sylvania at the same time for several years. He also owned a private excavation business from which he retired. Warren was very mechanical man who was known to fix anything. He also mowed the roughs at Blueberry Hill Golf Course.
Warren was very involved in the Warren County Horseshoe League. He and his wife traveled the country and Canada participating in Horseshoe tournaments in their motorhome. Warren will always be remembered as a loving husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend to many.
Warren is survived by his five children, Mike Moore and wife Sherry of Scandia, Jeff Moore and wife Brenda of Scandia, Doug Moore of Warren, Debbie Nyberg and companion Jed Birt of Akeley, and Julie Carter of Scandia; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; siblings, James Moore and wife Beverly of Warren, Martha Colvin of Warren, David Moore of Utica, NY, Judy Haskins of Anchorage , AK, and Barb Park and husband Terry of Raleigh, NC.
In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death on July 23, 2024 by his wife Joan, and an infant daughter, Brenda Sue Moore; and a brother, Steven Moore.
Friends will be received at Peterson – Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna Ave. E., Warren, Pa., on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Wednesday January 29th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. James Swanson, pastor, Pleasant Community Church, officiating.
Memorial contributions in memory of Warren may be made to the Scandia Volunteer Fire Department, 5950 Scandia Rd. Russell, Pa., 16345.
