Lee Rodgers
Lee Rodgers, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on Jan. 22, 2025, at the age of 87, with loving care provided by his family and supported by Hospice of Warren County.
Lee attended Warren High School and finished in the military while serving in the United States Army. He met his future wife Barbara Howe in 1957 with whom he shared a profound and unwavering love. They eloped and were married at the Assembly of God on Aug. 17,1958 in Jamestown, NY. His love for his faith was model by his mother, as pursued a Pastoral Ministry degree and ordained through Elim Bible Institute.
After graduating from Elim Bible Institute in New York, Lee was pastor of a church in Meshoppen, PA near Scranton filling in later as interim pastor at East Kane Assemblies of God church. He was lead pastor at the Spring Street church in Rome, NY. Moving to Iowa, he served two churches, the Handford Community Church, and the Highway Chapel in Forest City. Returning to PA, he served the Loaves and Fishes fellowship in Pleasant Township and Kinzua Christian Fellowship in Warren until retirement.
He was was instrumental in the lives of many parishioners to develop and mature their faith and Christian Walk. His studies were influenced greatly by non-denominational preachers as Billy Graham, Bob Mumford and Derek Prince. He was active in the multi-denominational Warren Ministerial Association. He was a standing member of the Good News Community Church in Warren under the pastoral leadership of Larry Condron.
Family was at the heart of Lee’s existence. Born Dec. 3,1937 in Cooperstown, PA. Lee was one of six children born to Helen and Harry Rodgers. After divorce, Helen remarried Raymond Bennett who lived with the family until his passing, and Harry remarried Mildred Rodgers.
He married Barb in a beautiful ceremony in 1958, and together they raised four wonderful children Lisa Robinson, Lori Kocjancic, Stephen (Heidi) Rodgers, and Beth (Jon) Hoffman. Lee was a devoted father who instilled in his children the values of integrity, perseverance, and compassion. He was equally devoted to his nine grandchildren, often sharing stories and wisdom that left an indelible mark on their young lives; Karissa and Michael Kocjancic and Julie (Anthony) Cassar, Ashley (Colin) Quinn, Vanessa (Ty) Pierandozzi, Nicholas Robinson, Kiersten (Austin) Hind, Andrew and Levi Hoffman. He has five great-grandchildren Mahayla, Ophelia, Ruby, Oaklynn, and in Hudson due in May.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Rodgers, his four children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, three nieces Patty Peak (Florida), Vivian Gibson (Orange County, CA) Nancy Bennett-McQueen (Kane, PA), and two nephews, Bob and Leroy Hotchkiss of (Orange County, CA) and (Warren, Pa).
Lee’s enthusiasm for Theological studies and Ministry was matched only by his passion for indoor sports. He found solace in Bible studies and worship, amassing a large library of reference materials as a testament to his life-long Christian service and qualities that were evident in every aspect of his life.
Lee’s legacy is one of kindness, knowledge, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He touched the lives of many through his teaching, his writing, and his acts of kindness. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitors may call at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, between 2 and 5 p.m. A service to celebrate Lee’s life will be held on Monday Jan. 27, 2025, at Praise Fellowship, 7451 Market St., Russell, PA, at 11 AM., the Reverand Larry Condron officiating, with special words by world Missionary and life-long friend, Dan Larkin of Tidioute, PA.
Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories of Lee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lee’s honor to the Good News Community Church and Hospice of Warren County.
Lee Rodgers life was a testament to the power of God’s love, mercy and forgiveness, the importance of family, and the impact one person can have on its members. He will be remembered with love and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
