Leon K. Sickler

Leon Kenneth Sickler, 89, of Spring Creek, PA, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at his home.

He was born April 21, 1935, in Corry, PA, a son of the late Kenneth Leon and Verna (Davis) Sickler.

Leon was raised in Spring Creek, including his first 12 years on the family farm on Jackson Hill, and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1953. After high school, he worked in the Corry area including over 20 years each in the engineering department at Corry Jamestown and then for Corry Contract until he retired in 2003.

He was a lifetime member of Spring Creek Volunteer Fire Department having over 40 years of active service to the community, including 18 years as Chief. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with family, traveling, and photography having developed his own film in his younger years.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his wife,Audrey J. (Jewell) Sickler; daughter-in-law Bonnie Sickler; three sisters Grace Smith, Madeline Sharer and Sandra Meneely; brother Richard Sickler; and two grandsons, Levi Brunst and Korey Brunst.

Leon is survived by two daughters Ellen (Raymond) VanGuilder of Meadville, PA, and Lori (Chris) Brunst of Spartansburg, PA; son Gary Sickler of Spring Creek, PA; sister Sharon Sickler of Spring Creek, PA; five grandchildren, Quentin Brunst of North Carolina, Shelby Christian of Iowa, Andrew Sickler of Colorado, Gregory Sickler of Michigan, and Justin Sickler North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Lila, Jasper and Sebastian, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in April, as the family had started plans for his 90th birthday celebration.
