Alfred (Al) Gnage
Alfred (Al) Gnage, 92, of Warren, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
He was born January 29, 1933, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Otto and Agnes (Mesler) Gnage.
Al served active duty as a corporal in the US Army for two years from 1953 to 1955. His basic training was at Fort Brag, North Carolina and part of his duty was served in Austria as a General’s aide.
He graduated from Ora Jean Barber School, Erie, PA in 1958.
He was a barber at Brownie’s Barber Shop in Youngsville, PA for 10 years before running his own barber business in Pleasant Township for 18+ years. He also worked for the National Forge Company a total of 21 years.
Al enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching ball games at Bett’s park, drinking coffee with friends at McDonalds and Peppermill Restaurant, camping at the Warren County Fair, and playing cards and horseshoes with friends on Wed. and Sun. nights. Al loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren at their sports and his granddaughter in her choral concerts and musicals.
He is survived by two sons both of Warren, Rick Gnage and his wife Becky (Bonadio), Chris Gnage and his wife Tiana (Mellor), a granddaughter Elishia (Gnage) Wurst and her husband Marshall, two grandsons, Caleb Gnage and wife Kim (Hunter), and Jared Gnage; four great granddaughters, Audrey, and Avery Wurst; Lottie and Colette Gnage, and one great grandson Otto Gnage; his close friend Leona Stewart, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother and father, Alfred was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters, Romaine Estes, Melvin Gnage, William Gnage, Doris Brecht, Harold Gnage, Dorothy (Hepler) Dankworth, Lois Gnage, James Gnage, Ruth Gnage, Louis (Butch) Gnage, Woodrow Gnage, & Otto Jr. Gnage.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the following; Community Resources for Independence (CRI), Warren Manor, Hospice of Warren County, and Pastor Jeff Ewing.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren County in Alfred’s memory.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, at which time a service will be held with the Reverend Jeffrey Ewing and Reverend Heather Allport-Cohoon, co-officiating.
