Alfred J. Illig (Butch)

Alfred J. Illig (Butch), age 83, of Arneman Road, Edinboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 31, 2025, from chronic heart issues and dementia. Butch was born on November 29, 1941, in Erie the only son of the late Alfred J. Illig and Charlotte Trimm Illig. After attending Cambridge Springs High School, he worked for his sister and brother-in-law’s trucking company hauling milk for the Carnation Company and also worked at Turners Mill, Cambridge Springs. Butch drove semi-trucks for over a million accident-free miles for Masterson Transfer of Warren, PA, retiring after twenty-five years. In 1965, he married Nancy Larson and together they enjoyed fifty-nine years of marriage. Living on the old family homestead for many years, Butch enjoyed horses, coon dogs and deer season. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Patrricia Stafford, granddaughter Shelly Illig, brother-in-laws, Elmer Zilhaver and William Larson of whom he was very close. Survivors include his wife Nancy Illig, son John Illig (Crissy), daughter Judy Corwin (Matt), daughter Jeanny Brown (Tim), son Jeff Illig, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sisters Carol Zilhaver and Susanne Zimmer, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
