Andrew Jackson Poston Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Altamonte Springs, Florida after a brief battle with leukemia. Born on January 16, 1946, in Waco, Alabama, Andy lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a gentle, caring spirit.
Andy was the proud owner of Andy’s Truck Service in Clarendon, Pennsylvania, the Clarendon Water Company in Clarendon, Pennsylvania, and also the Times Square Restaurant in Warren, Pennsylvania. Through these ventures, he built lasting connections with his community and earned the respect of those who knew him. Known for his tireless work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand, Andy’s kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
Family was at the heart of Andy’s life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sharon Flick Poston (Stoneham, PA); his sons Andrew J. Poston III (Elizabethton, TN), Joseph L. Poston (North Warren, PA), Donald D. Poston (Tipp City, OH), and Leon R. Poston (Corry, PA); his brother Raymond Poston (Phil Campbell, AL); numerous nieces and nephews; and was “Papa” to nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson Poston Sr. and Viola Mae Poston; his brother Jimmy Dale Poston; and his sisters Betty Jean Poston Porter, Kathleen Poston Shoulders, and Jewel Dean Poston Hallman.
Andy cherished spending time with family and friends and took great joy in spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether traveling to a game, attending a dance recital, birthday party or graduation, having sleepovers, or going fishing, his presence and support will always be a lasting memory for so many. He also enjoyed hunting trips with friends out West and found peace during winters spent in Apopka, Florida after retirement. An active member of his local church family, Andy’s faith was a guiding force in his life.
A celebration of life to honor Andy will be held on February 23, 2025, in Apopka, Florida. A celebration of life for his Pennsylvania family and friends will be held at a later date.
Andrew Jackson Poston Jr.’s legacy of kindness and dedication will live on through the many lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
