Ann M. Lucia McAvoy, 104, of Warren, PA., died peacefully, Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at the Rouse Home, Youngsville, PA., after a long life, surrounded by her loving family. Ann was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of Peter and Mamie Scalise Lucia. She was a 1937 graduate of Warren High School and attended eight years at St. Joseph School. She was a graduate of Ora Jean Beauty Academy in Erie, PA., and owned and operated her own beauty salon. In 1952 she moved to Sheffield, PA., where she resided for 50 years. She also was employed with New Process Company, working nights before she went to beauty school. She loved spending her birthday with her children at the casino. Ann loved to bowl most her life, and she was an avid crocheter and knitter for her children and grandchildren. She loved to play cards. Ann was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. Prior to Ann’s stay at the Rouse, she was a resident of the Watson Memorial Home.
She is survived by her sons Mark McAvoy and wife, Alexis, Michael McAvoy, and wife, Barbara, all of Warren, PA.; her daughter, Molly Pasquarette of Glendale, AZ.;
nine granddaughters Susan Owens, Kathleen Makielski, Mary Lynn Piverger, Michelle Jukic, Laura McAvoy, Kristin Jeter and Katlin McAvoy, Melissa Mierzejewski, and Holly Nielsen; two grandsons Patrick McAvoy, and Robert McAvoy; 13 great-grandchildren Maxwell McAvoy, Ethan, Ivy, Abigail Owens, Makel and Haley Piverger, Mia, Dominik and Lucia Jukic, Jack Makielski, Weston Mierzejewski, Penny and Pearl Nielsen, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jack McAvoy whom she married Nov. 17, 1951, who died Jan. 19, 2001; six brothers Daniel, Albert, Peter, George, Richard, Leonard Lucia; two sisters Alvida Farr and Josephine Rich, and her son-in-law, James Pasquarette.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA., 10 A.M. with Fr. Richard C. Tomasone, Pastor, officiating.
