Frances R. Lester, 88, of Pittsfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Kinzua Valley Health Care.
She was born on January 11, 1937, in Torpedo, PA, a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian Schell-Camp.
Frances was raised on Cole Hill, Pittsfield, PA and later graduated from Youngsville High School in 1954. She first worked at Circle BBQ (now known as Richard’s Restaurant) then started her 3rd shift career at Loranger Manufacturing. She worked there for 35 years of service and retired in 1999.
Fran faithfully attended the Pittsfield Wesleyan Methodist Church for most of her life journey. She loved her garden and canning, and she was famous for her dill pickles. She also was an avid seasonal fruit picker in North East, PA. Fran was well known for her orange-coconut cakes that she would bake for a loved one’s birthday. She also had a love for vanilla milkshakes. When Fran was in good health, she had a passion for traveling to different states to see her loved ones to reminisce about the family tree.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Snyder and two brothers, Charles Jr and Howard Camp.
Fran is survived by two daughters, Shelby (Ron) Wachter of Pittsfield, PA and Belinda (Tim) Wright of Pleasantville, PA; four sons, Richard (Sue) Lester of Columbus, PA, Ramsey (Karen Smith) Lester of Altoona, PA, Jim Lester of Pittsfield, PA, Jerry (Jill) Lester of Houston, TX and bonus son, that she loved like her own, Doug (Kristine) Edwards of North East, PA and two brothers, Jim Camp of Pittsfield, PA and Harold (Nancy) Camp of Ekron, KY.
She was also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Major.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Nelson Funeral Home, 314 N. Main St, Youngsville, PA 16371 on Sunday, March 23rd from 3 pm to 6pm and on Monday, March 24th at Pittsfield Wesleyan Methodist Church, 164 Main St, Pittsfield, PA 16340 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 11 am. Rev. Paul Kruse will officiate
Burial will be in Garland Presbyterian Cemetery, Garland, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pittsfield Wesleyan Methodist Church.
