Ronald E. Anderson

Ronald E. Anderson
Ronald E. Anderson, of Frewsburg, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Born October 25, 1942 in Jamestown, NY to Fred and Ruth (Haller) Anderson, Ron spent his entire life in Frewsburg, where he built a legacy of hard work, dedication, and community spirit.
A graduate of Frewsburg High School, Ron was an active member of his school community, serving as a member and then president of the Frewsburg FFA during his high school years. His passion for agriculture led him to operate Pennsy Border Guernsey Farm for most of his life alongside his beloved wife, Nancy (Long) Anderson, whom he married on November 30, 1963. He was also a proud past president of the Western New York Guernsey Association, championing the breed he so deeply loved.
Many in the community knew Ron as a longtime school bus driver for the Frewsburg Central School District. He took great pride in safely transporting students to and from school. Some of his fondest memories came from driving the marching band to their competitions, especially to Syracuse where he enjoyed lots of good-natured bantering with the directors and watching the students’ hard work and camaraderie. In later years, after retiring from farming and school bus driving, he continued his career on the road, driving for Coach USA.
Beyond his work, Ron was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his loved ones at family gatherings, picnics, and his famous backyard wiener roasts. He especially cherished watching his grandson, Owen, grow and was always entertained by his energy and spirit. A highlight of Ron’s year was always “fair season.” When farming, he loved showing his dairy cattle in the ring at various county fairs, but in retirement, he moved to a more relaxing week of camping during fair week at the Warren County Fair, a tradition that was always filled with joy, cow shows, his favorite foods, and lasting memories. Many remember that even a camper fire one year didn’t keep Ron from missing his time at the fair- it was back in its spot before the day was over!
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his son, Jason, daughter-in-law, Melissa (Speta) Anderson, and his adored grandson, Owen Anderson. He is also survived by his much-loved in-laws, Stephen and Shirley Peterson, Stan and Ann Long, and Bruce and Pat Long, as well as his brother, William Anderson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Sherwood Anderson.
The family is also deeply grateful to the many individuals who assisted with Ron’s care throughout the years.
A service to honor Ron’s life will be held at the Peterson Funeral Home in Frewsburg New York. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 26 from 5pm-7pm, and from 11am-12pm on Thursday, March 27, with a memorial service being held immediately following calling hours at 12pm in the funeral home’s chapel. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held immediately following the memorial service at the Frewsburg Firemen’s Grounds Blue Building.
For those who wish to donate in Ron’s memory, the family suggests contributions be made to the Frewsburg Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice of Chautauqua County.
