Constance E. Hibner

Constance E. Hibner
Constance “Connie” E. Hibner, 80, of Lander, PA, died unexpectedly on April 10, 2025. She experienced a medical emergency while returning from a trip to Japan after visiting a close friend of over 55 years.
She married John C. Hibner of Warren, PA immediately after she graduated from Clarion University with a degree in education. The couple would have celebrated 59 years of marriage this June. Connie taught for many years at South Street Elementary School and Beaty Warren Middle School in Warren until retirement.
Connie accompanied John to Turkey after he was stationed there by the Air Force in 1966. After his deployment ended, they eventually built their dream home of 50 years in the countryside of Lander. They spent much of their time together creating an idyllic space for many special memories. Connie and John also have a second home in Arizona to escape the cold winters and snow of Pennsylvania.
Connie had a special zest for life. There seemed to be no challenge she wouldn’t take on, and few, if any, she didn’t succeed at. She swam, ran 10Ks, completed a dozen back-country canoe trips in Northern Ontario, played neighborhood volleyball, completed long bicycle trips, and was a skilled skier, gardener, animal lover, card player, chef, and hostess extraordinaire. Connie took great pride in the presentation of dinners for family, friends and neighbors. She had an engaging smile and personality, and loved to meet new people. Many years ago Connie and John took a great interest in dance including square dancing, round dancing and ballroom dancing. They attended dance gatherings and clinics all over the east and south. As a couple, they traveled to many destinations around the world including four African safaris, Asia, Australia, Europe, Morocco and South America.
In addition to John, Connie leaves behind her special nephew, David “Bo” C. Woolslayer and brother-in-law Tom Hibner. Connie grew up and maintained frequent contact with her beloved cousins Eileen Cardinale and Suzanne Chelko. Many friends and neighbors in Pennsylvania and Arizona will also miss Connie tremendously.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Thelma and Gordon Woolslayer, her in-laws Pat and Harold Hibner, her brother and wife Philip and Shirley Woolslayer, and her nephew, Gordon Woolslayer II.
John suggests in lieu of flowers a memorial donation could be made to a charity of your choice, if desired. Honoring Connie’s wishes to be remembered as she was in life, there will be no visitation or service.
