Eugene F. Lucia

Eugene F. Lucia, 93, formerly of Ludlow, passed away, March 30, in the Lutheran Home at Kane. Born Sept. 27, 1931 in Warren, he is the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Fazio) Lucia. He married Patricia Walters, who survives, on Dec. 7, 1957.

Gene is a decorated veteran of the Korean War. He received the Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Service Cross, several Purple Hearts and was nominated several times for the Congressional Medal of Honor. He worked for several years as the service manager for Turners TV and Appliance, and then was the co-owner of Lucia Appliance. He was the Hamilton Township Chief of Police for many years, the commander of the FOP Lodge at Lantz Corners, and the former commander of the Ludlow American Legion. Gene loved hunting, taking rides in the woods with his wife and grandchildren, working around his garage on his cars and riding his motorcycle for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, William (Sharon) Lucia of Ludlow, Robert (Cindy) Lucia of Port Charlotte, FL, Bradley (Sandy) Lucia of Nottingham, PA and Bryant (Becky) Lucia of Warren; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rose Marie Lyle, Mary Jane Lucia, Betty Hewitt and Frances Lucia and brothers, James and William Lucia and Deacon Joseph Lucia.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, April 4 from 10-11 a.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11 with the Rev. William O’Brien, officiating. Interment will be in Gibbs Hill Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Ludlow Volunteer Fire Department.
