John L. Schutt
John L. Schutt, 81, of Sugar Grove, exited this life and entered life eternal on April 17, 2025 after a struggle with heart failure.
John was born to Roy B. and Beatrice I. (Ruch) Schutt on May 26, 1943. After graduating from Clymer Central High School in 1962, John joined the U.S. Army. Achieving the rank of Specialist 4th class. While in the service, John, earned a good conduct medal and an expert marksmanship award. John was honorably discharged in 1965.
After military service John worked for Simones and Cook as a diesel mechanic. John later worked for ClarkLift repairing fork trucks before buying his own business – R&W Truck Service in 1986. John never retired! R&W Truck Service continues under the leadership of his grandson, Matthew Schutt.
John enjoyed woodworking in his home shop, camping, and remodeling the family home. John loved his 1956 Chevy BelAir and his 1966 Pontiac GTO. John also enjoyed collectible die cast vehicles, and auto memorabilia. John was a people person, and could talk to anyone.
John is survived by his wife of sixty years, Norma Carnahan Schutt, son Christopher (Jill) Schutt of Bettendorf, IA, daughter Sharon (Darrell) Greenawalt of Franklin, PA . John had eight grandchildren, Nathan Greenawalt, Megan (Dan) LaFuria, Matthew (Briona) Schutt, Aaron Greenawalt, Mallory Schutt, Allie Schutt, Noah (Breann) Greenawalt, Toby Greenawalt. John had five great-grandchildren, Harrison LaFuria, Payton, Grayson, Kanon and Emberlynn Schutt. John is survived by brothers, William (Lois) Schutt, and Gordon Schutt, and several nieces, and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents as well as siblings Donald Schutt, James Schutt, Helen Reynolds, and Doris Bloss.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Lander Community Church memorial fund, VNA Hospice of Venango Co., or a charity of choice.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA, on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5 to 7 pm, and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 11 am, with Rev. Dr. Darrell L. Greenawalt, pastor, Christ United Methodist Church, and Dale McMillen, pastor, Lander Community Church, co-officiating.
Burial to follow at Warren County Memorial Park.
