Lamonte R. Mahood
Lamonte “Monty” R. Mahood, of Warren, PA, and formerly of Cape Canaveral, Florida, passed away on Jan. 18, 2025, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA.
He was born on Jan. 16, 1961, in Warren, the son of the late James Mahood and Ruth Ann “Rudy” (Cunningham) Mahood.
Monty grew up in Warren and graduated from Warren Area High School Class of 1979, where he excelled in sports. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served aboard the Hollyhock until 1983.
In the years that followed, Monty led a life of adventure and dedication. He worked on the fishing vessel Blow Out under Red Adair and served as lead deckhand for Victor Posner, owner of Sharon Steel Corporation. Later, he was employed at National Forge in Irvine, PA.
Monty had a passion for cooking that led him to study culinary arts in Pittsburgh, PA. He pursued his love of food professionally as a chef in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
A man of creativity and strong spirit, Monty was also an artist at heart. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time on his pontoon boat.
He is survived by his children, Michael Mahood, Haley Mahood (Christian Falvo), of Warren, Pa., and Tanner Mahood, of Aberdeen, NC. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Brook Benton (Josh) of Warren, PA, and Brandon Lindell of Youngsville, PA; his brother, Peter Mahood (Melanie Strandburg) of Kila, MT, formerly of Warren; and his beloved granddaughter, Layna and Ardyn Falvo of Warren, PA.
Monty’s memory will also live on through his step-grandchildren, Baisley and Josie Benton of Warren, PA, and Bowen Lindell of Youngsville, PA; and his nieces, Lindsay Collins (Mahood), and Kylie Mahood, both of Kalispell, MT.
In addition to his parents, Monty was preceded in death by an infant son, Christian Mahood.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Sugar Bay. All who knew and loved Monty are welcome to attend.
