Larry R. Thomas

Larry Ross Thomas, 82, of Lakeland, Florida, passed into the arms of his beloved Savior on March 26, 2025. Born on Feb. 14,1943, in Union City, Pennsylvania, he was a devoted husband to JoAnne (Gardner) Thomas for 61 years.

Larry faithfully served his Lord as a pastor in several Free Methodist church appointments: Centerville, PA, Sugar Grove, PA, Titusville, PA, and Waynesboro, VA. He was a Free Methodist Church of North America conference superintendent for the Keystone Conference 1994-1998 and WAVE Superintendent, serving at the same time, Keystone, Genesee and Susquehanna conferences 1998-2000.

Larry had a lifelong passion for building and fabricating cars, leading him to form friendships with fellow car enthusiasts wherever he went. Larry’s easy-going personality and love for people made him a magnet for friendships, not just within the car community but in all walks of life. His infectious laughter and genuine desire to share the love of God with others were hallmarks of his character, endearing him to everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne (Gardner) Thomas and a brother James D. Thomas (wife Robin Ruot Thomas). He was a loving father to three children, his eldest son Gregory Scott Thomas (wife Tina Phillips Thomas) of Lakeland Florida, His daughter Lori Ann Thomas Leek (husband Charles R. Leek Jr.) of Lynchburg, Virginia, and son Jeffrey Ross Thomas (wife Heidi Schantz Thomas) of Lynchburg, Virginia. His many grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much joy. He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Leslie and Lora and brothers Jack and Danny.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Larry on Thursday, April 3 at 7pm at the Life and Light Free Methodist Church, 5730 Deeson Road, Lakeland Florida.
