Maryann H. Miko, 81, a longtime Sheffield resident, passed away peacefully Friday, April 18, 2025, at UPMC Hamot, in Erie, PA. Maryann was born on Aug. 13, 1943, in Forty Fort, PA, the daughter of Matthew Lugar and Anna (Simback) Lugar. Maryann married the love of her life Bob Miko on July 25, 1964, at St. Johns in Luzerne, PA. They raised three children together and celebrated 60 years of marriage.
She was a longtime member of the St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church in Sheffield. Maryann was employed for years in the retail clothing industry, working in the clerical department. Her pastime included crosswords, word searches, and especially crocheting. She loved the color red and especially enjoyed Halloween. Her most memorable times were going camping with Bob and her family. Even through her health issues she kept her faith, loved her family and lived every day to the fullest.
Left behind to cherish Maryann’s memory are her faithful husband, Bob Miko at home; her son Steve Miko and his wife Patti of Warren; her daughter Sarah Miko of Sheffield; four grandchildren, Tyler Miko, Jenna Truluck, Hannah Miko, and Kayla Barber; and two great-grandchildren, Noah Truluck and Althea Barber.
Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Matthew Miko, and a sister, Rosalie Pretko.
There will be no public calling hours or public service observed. A private family visitation was held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Borden Funeral Home, 203 West Main St., Sheffield, PA. A blessing service was held at 1 p.m. with Father Mark O’Hern, of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church of Sheffield, presiding. Burial will be private.
