Shirley J. Robbins, 87, formerly of Creek Road, Busti, died Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Kinzua Healthcare after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born March 14, 1938, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Forest and Pearl Wilcox Chadwick.
Prior to her retirement she was employed as head cashier at Valu Home Center.
Shirley was a longtime member of the Busti Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was also a member of the auxiliaries of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the Vikings and a member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are three children Jesse (Lorie) Robbins of Busti, Terri Robbins of Sugar Grove, PA, and Kellie (Dale) Johnson of Youngsville, PA; grandchildren Nathan (Torie) Dallas of Denver, NC, Cole (DeAnn) Robbins of Busti, Jay (Jobie) Groves of Sugar Grove, Kelli (Dave) Shagla of Sugar Grove, Alex (Nikki) Johnson of Russell, PA, Christopher (Jessie) Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA, and Faith (Kyle) Johnson of Youngsville; great-grandchildren, Nathalie, Raegon, Mikael, Halley, Nolan and Hazel; great-great-grandchildren, Blakelyn and Lewis; and two brothers Robert (Barb) Chadwick of Conewango Valley and Forest (Sonya) Chadwick, Jr. of Randolph.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Merrill “Mert” Robbins, whom she married June 30, 1956, and who died Feb. 11, 2018; a great-grandson Cooper Groves in 2023; sisters Carol Johnson, Van Dunstan, Lois Dunstan, Hesper Loomis, Dorothy Chapman; and brothers James, Kenneth, Richard and Keith Chadwick.
The funeral will be held at noon Friday May 2, 2025, in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-6 pm Thursday and for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home.
To thank the Kinzua Healthcare Alzheimer’s Unit for their phenomenal care and to honor our mother’s courageous battle with the disease, the family would like to provide some resources for the Alzheimer’s Unit in Shirley’s memory.
