Noting Education Week
Dear Editor,
American Education Week is Nov. 18-22. It is a celebration of public schools and an opportunity to say thank you to the many folks who come together to help our students learn and grow.
Here in Pennsylvania, we honor the amazing people who work in our public schools, from classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to cafeteria workers and bus drivers to school nurses, counselors, and mental health professionals, among many others. Their commitment to educating our students in safe and healthy environments contributes to Pennsylvania’s public schools ranking among the best in the nation.
We also acknowledge and thank the parents, guardians, families, and community leaders who partner with us every day to educate the next generation of Pennsylvanians. Our schools could not do all that they do without the critical support of our school communities.
Please take a moment during American Education Week to thank the many people who make our public schools great, especially the educators and support staff who are deeply committed to the success of every student. Because a strong public education system means a stronger future for us all.

Leadership worries
Dear Editor,
Before the election, I saw many, many Donald Trump signs. That was not my problem or worry as a lifelong Republican.
My concern is the people behind them. Never in my 96 years have I observed a scenario within our political systems that resembles the rise of the Third Reich of Germany leading up to the great war. Hitler was a great leader, of course, but to where?
I fear too many of those shepherds have not reviewed the Third Reich and are not familiar enough with the 1930s to recognize how we are driving down the road to autocracy and eventually dictatorship.

Making a list
Dear Editor,
As a lifelong Democrat, I was possessed with the compassion and sympathy Donald Trump had for people who disagreed with him on any subject. Here are 10 reasons why I considered voting for President-elect Trump, but inadvertently voted for Vice President Kamala Harris instead. What a colassal mistake that was!
1. Trump was never a draft dodger.
2. Trump was never a bankrupt business man.
3. Trump University never went bankrupt at the expense of students.
4. Trump never stated that Sen. John McCain was not a war hero.
5. Trump never belittled handicap people at news venues.
6. Trump never stated he would be a dictator on day one.
7. Trump never called certain Americans garbage.
8. Trump never called our service men and women who defended our nation losers.
9. Trump never tried to destroy our beloved country with the U.S. Capitol riot.
10. Trump never lost a certain presidential election and denied it with his consuming lies and lots of crap, sufficient to fertilize all the farms in the farm belt.
Oh, one more thing…Trump is not a convicted felon who deserves prison time. He never separated crying children from their parents arms at our southern border without remorse — love your compassion Trump. Nice job.Keep it up!
My vote was for freedom and our democracy, although we lost, in the short term. Who knows for how long?
Wow! I should have voted for draft dodger Trump. What a mistake! This American veteran, not a draft dodger, will never let that happen again.
