Time is right to rebrand Warren Area High School
By ROBERT JEPSON
I wrote this letter to every school board member and superintendent.
I received a generic kick rocks letter back from Mr. Paul Mangione. It’s a “we don’t honestly care about the public opinion” letter. Voices deserve to be heard.
I am inquiring about when the school district plans to start its rebranding process and what that will look like.
This is obviously the only fair route that needs to be taken after tearing apart two communities. During the school consolidation and closing process, one of the board members frequented the sentiment that some are “addicted to mascots.” Now is the time to prove your own point.
Rebranding Warren Area High School is a great way to welcome the new students. It’s no longer just a high school for Warren students. It’s more than that. These kids are not just Dragons, Wolverines, Eagles and Knights. They deserve a new representation and to be included.
This will be a great way to involve the communities. I’m eager to see how this board will explore this.
If Erie High School can rebrand after consolidation, so can we.It needs to happen. A new brand, a new legacy, a new culture, a community going from divided to strong together under a new name and direction. I vote Warren Blue Raiders. But that’s exactly what it should be, a poll of interest. And vote. Contact the school board, and demand and rebrand.
