Our opinion: New fund could boost Sugar Grove
A core group of Sugar Grove residents have started a fund that could provide a boost to projects benefiting their neighbors for years to come.
Starting the Sugar Grove Community Fund was the easy part. The hard part comes next as the fund’s advisory committee tries to grow the fund. The first opportunity to do so en masse comes May 14 during Warren Gives. To help the fund grow the Community Foundation of Warren County will match the first $25,000 in donations to the Sugar Grove Community Fund, dollar for dollar. Donations can be made online at WarrenGives.org, or by contacting the Community Foundation at 814-726-9553 for instructions on donating by check. Contributions made through Warren Gives are eligible for both the foundation’s matching funds and additional match pool dollars.
The Sugar Grove Community Fund joins the Tidioute Area Community Fund, the Brokenstraw Valley Community Fund, and the Sheffield Area Community Fund at the Community Foundation of Warren County. As these funds generate more donations and reach maturity they will be able to help generate investment in projects that can make life better for those in Sugar Grove, Brokenstraw, Sheffield and Tidioute for years to come. It takes some foresight to take the time and effort to create these funds and to administer them once they reach the point where enough interest is generated to begin sending money back into the community.
This is the first time Sugar Grove residents will have the opportunity to help grow their community fund, but we hope the creation of the fund in Sugar Grove sparks donations to funds for Brokenstraw, Sheffield and Tidioute too.
