MEADVILLE — Highlighted by a first-place finish from senior Cael Black, six Eisenhower wrestlers advanced to the districts by virtue of their performances over the weekend at the Section 1AA tournament at Meadville High School.

Competing at 215 pounds, Black, the No. 1 seed, had a first-round bye and then won one match on Friday and two on Saturday to finish the weekend with a 3-0 record.

Black will be joined at districts by senior Gannon Jaquay (152), sophomore Tucker Lindell (160), freshman Ryan Chambers (113), freshman Griffin Williams (106) and junior Brock English (189). Jaquay was 2-1 and finished second; Lindell was 3-1 and placed third; Chambers was 3-2 and finished fourth; Williams was 2-2 and placed fifth; and English was 2-2 and finished seventh.

“Really, at this point in time, it’s about advancing each week,” Knights coach Chris Black said. “We really kind of stress finding your own way and moving on.”

This weekend’s district championship meet will be held at Sharon High School, beginning Friday.

“Now we just focus on those six,” Black said, and try and get them to the next level.”
