JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Jamestown used “small ball” to end its six-game losing streak Wednesday night.

Behind five hits — only of one which left the infield — the Tarp Skunks (18-19) scored four runs in the second inning en route to a 5-3 victory over Elmira in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game at Diethrick Park.

Highlighting the rally were a pair of bunts, one of which was a suicide squeeze by Mark Tucker; an infield RBI single by Cody Bey; a run-scoring single to left field by Will Dorrell; and a successful double steal.

The Tarp Skunks added their final run in the fourth inning, courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Henry Martinez.

Bey (double) finished with two of Jamestown’s six hits and Martinez added a double off a collection of Elmira pitchers that included Mike Sokol (1-5) and Mason Smith.

Winning pitcher Travis Perry (4-3) worked seven innings, gave up one run, walked two and struck out seven. Evan Harrison came on in relief, allowing two runs and striking out one.

Frank Wayman (double) led the Pioneers (17-19) with three hits and teammates Max Handler (triple) and Kyle Chmielewski had two apiece. Erik Charnetski added a double.

The Tarp Skunks are off today. They will be back in action Friday when they entertain Niagara for a doubleheader.

Starting at $2.99/week.
