YOUNGSVILLE — Titusville didn’t play the kindest of visitors during Wednesday’s Senior Night wrestling match with Youngsville at Youngsville High School.

Despite that, Youngsville coach Dave Myers was pleased with the efforts of many of his wrestlers during the 57-12 setback to the Rockets.

One of those wrestlers he was pleased with was senior Ian Mancuso. After three consecutive forfeits (two in favor of Titusville and another in favor of Youngsville 121-pounder James Johnson) to start the night, Mancuso battled the Rockets’ Coleman Huck at 127 pounds.

Mancuso opened quickly with a takedown and three back points, building a 5-0 lead before logging the pin at the 56-second mark of the opening period.

“Ian was able to make quick work of his opponent,” said Myers. “It was Senior Night and we really wanted to make sure he got a match and he did his job well.”

The second of Youngsville’s three seniors was Logan McDonald who wrestled at 139 pounds. Facing a tough opponent, McDonald found himself on the losing end of a 5-0 decision against Titusville’s Nate Stearns.

“We were hoping for better for Logan, but Stearns is one of the better wrestlers in all of District 10,” said Myers. “I think a lot was learned despite the match not going our way.”

The third senior was Griffin Daley at 160 pounds. Daley returned to the lineup for the first time in nearly three weeks after battling recent illness and injury.

“Griffin and Aidan (Mancuso) gave very spirited efforts I thought,” said Myers. “Titusville is a good team and has a lot of talent all throughout its lineup.”

The Eagles will have a week to recuperate before traveling to Seneca for a dual match on Wednesday.
