“Let’s go!”

Warren’s swim coach Russ Beyer is excited for the District 10 Class 2A Swimming Championships on Friday and Saturday at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

“I expect our kids to explode and achieve their best times,” said Beyer. “They have been really getting after it over the last nine practices. The season has culminated to this moment, and our group seems to rise up to the challenges in front of them. They know we have some opportunities to represent District 10, the Warren Dragons and, most importantly, themselves at a state meet. I am really excited for them.”

The D10 2A boys meet will have all-state swimmer Hugh Harrison leading Warren. The junior — who had three individual district titles in two seasons in Class 3A — is looking for a similar result in the 200-yard individual medley (seeded first out of 21) and 100-yard backstroke (seeded first out of 27) in 2A. He will also swim on three relays — 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley.

Drake Niemitz will compete in the 200-yard freestyle (seeded fourth) and 500-yard freestyle (seeded second); Jacob Retterer in the 100-yard backstroke; Brody Alexander in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke; and Jarod Peterson in the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle.

For the Lady Dragons, Katie Krogler qualified for the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle; Kirsten Johnson the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke; Samantha Caudill the 200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle; Summer Lucks the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly; Lucy Harrison the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke (seeded fifth out of 30); Leyna Irwin the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle; Jen Giger the 500-yard freestyle; Madeline Walker the 100-yard backstroke; and Violet Spiegel the 100-yard breaststroke.

Starting at $2.99/week.
